Choosing an Airsoft Pistol
Getting ready to buy an air soft pistol? What should you consider before you buy? Not all guns are the same, and like anything else there is a variety of styles and features as well as quality.
Let’s start by reviewing the types of firing mechanisms. Will you select a manually powered aka spring loaded gun, or should you pick a gas or electronically powered pistol? Price is only one factor to consider.
The first question in deciding the style of airsoft pistol should be its use. Are you going into competition? A spring loaded may not be the best option for battles, but can be fun for practice.
The airsoft spring pistol works off the principles of potential energy. This means when you pull back on the spring you fill the gun with potential energy. One pull of the trigger releases that energy, the kinetic force that powers the shot. The pellet is thrust from your pistol with the force generated by that spring.
What’s the downside of choosing a spring air soft gun? It is all about the action. If you need speed you need to consider an automatic or semi-automatic gun. You only get one shot at a time with the spring style. This will hurt you in competition.
Are there any reasons why you would choose a spring airsoft gun? Well, for one you don’t have to worry about running out of fuel or battery power. You won’t have the same malfunctions that can happen during really cold weather.
Putting all else aside, those spring airsoft guns are a whole lot of fun. Let’s not forget why we buy them in the first place! There are many styles to choose from, and the quality and power will vary. Take a little time to research and talk with other airsoft enthusiasts before you make your decision.
